Here are some creative ideas you can use to make your Alpha launch fun and effective!
1. Music & laughter
Why not begin your launch with live music and video presentations? You don’t even need to have a full band - low key acoustic music canprovide a nice, chilled vibe. This can be followed by a friendly welcome by the Alpha team leader to casually open the night.
2. Come & see evening
Signing up to Alpha can seem like a huge commitment for some people especially if they don’t know what to expect. A great way to overcome this obstacle is to invite guests to an introductory Come & See evening where there is “no catch, no commitment”. On this night, conversation is light, the first Alpha talk is presented, and guests can decide if they would like to attend Alpha for the full duration.
3. Games & Icebreakers
Games and icebreakers are an excellent way to warm up the conversation in your Alpha discussion as they help put people at ease. When guests don’t know each other, the icebreaker can help them introduce themselves to the other guests. Furthermore, games can become a weekly activity at the beginning of each session. Why not get creative and think of some ways your games could link to the topic of discussion each week?
4. Alpha in a pub/restaurant
A pub or restaurant is a great place to host Alpha because it’s a comfortable, neutral space where guests may feel more confident to invite their friends. People like to hang out in the evenings with their friends and chat, so why not host Alpha in a place where people are already engaging with each other?
Laurie & Monica are a great couple from Mornington who have seen firsthand success in running Alpha in a pub environment. Their story is so inspirational, you can be read it here.
5. Free food & giveaways
Free food and giveaways are always a treat in drawing people and keeping the mood light. Hosting a community BBQ or having catered food is always a winner! Giveaways and prizes are a great way to get people involved and help generate friendliness among the guests.
